How to calculate your Life Path number
Write your birth date as month, day and year. Reduce each part to one digit by adding its digits, and keep 11, 22 and 33 as they are: these are called master numbers. Add the three results, and reduce again the same way.
Example: December 25, 1990. Month 12 gives 1 + 2 = 3. Day 25 gives 2 + 5 = 7. Year 1990 gives 1 + 9 + 9 + 0 = 19, then 1 + 9 = 10, then 1. 3 + 7 + 1 = 11, a master number, so the Life Path is 11.
Some sites add every digit in one row instead. Reducing each part first is the most common method, and the one that keeps master numbers, so this calculator uses it and shows each step.
What each Life Path number means
- 1: The Leader. Life Path 1 is about independence and fresh starts. You learn by doing things your own way and often feel happiest when you are the one who begins. You may be driven, direct and full of ideas. The lesson is to lead without pushing people away, and to trust yourself even when nobody else has gone first. Your courage can open doors for others too.
- 2: The Peacemaker. Life Path 2 is about partnership and care. You notice how people feel, you are good at listening and you can calm a room. You often do your best work beside someone rather than alone. The lesson is to value your own needs as much as other people's, and to speak up gently instead of keeping the peace at any cost. Your kindness is a real strength.
- 3: The Creator. Life Path 3 is about creativity and joy. You may love to talk, write, make things or make people laugh. Ideas come easily, and your mood can brighten everyone around you. The lesson is to focus your gifts on a few things you care about, and to share feelings honestly instead of hiding them behind a smile. When you create, you feel most like yourself.
- 4: The Builder. Life Path 4 is about structure and hard work. You like plans, clear rules and finishing what you start. People rely on you because you are practical and loyal. The lesson is to stay open to change and to rest, so that being dependable never turns into being stuck. Step by step, you can build a home, a career or a community that lasts.
- 5: The Explorer. Life Path 5 is about freedom and variety. You learn through experience: travel, new people, new jobs, new ideas. Routine can feel like a cage, and you adapt fast when things change. The lesson is to choose your adventures with care and to keep some promises that ground you. Your curiosity reminds others that life is meant to be lived, not only planned.
- 6: The Nurturer. Life Path 6 is about love, family and responsibility. You are the one people come to for comfort, advice or a warm meal. You care about beauty, fairness and keeping your people safe. The lesson is to let others carry their own load sometimes, and to care for yourself as much as for everyone else. Your home and your heart can be a shelter for many.
- 7: The Seeker. Life Path 7 is about wisdom and inner life. You like to think things through, ask big questions and spend time alone to recharge. You may be drawn to study, nature or spiritual ideas. The lesson is to trust others enough to let them in, and to share what you learn. Your quiet depth can help people see what they had missed.
- 8: The Achiever. Life Path 8 is about ambition and strength. You think big, work hard and like to see results. People often see you as capable and in charge. The lesson is to balance work with rest and success with kindness, and to remember that power is best used to lift others. When your goals match your values, you can build something that truly matters.
- 9: The Humanitarian. Life Path 9 is about compassion and endings that make room for new things. You care about the world beyond your own life and feel for people you have never met. You may be artistic, wise and generous. The lesson is to let go of the past without bitterness, and to give without losing yourself. Your open heart can inspire others to give too.
- 11: The Intuitive. Life Path 11 is a master number, a doubled number many numerologists do not reduce. It carries the gentleness of 2 with extra sensitivity and insight. You may pick up on moods and ideas before others do, and feel called to inspire. The lesson is to trust your inner voice while keeping your feet on the ground, and to rest when the world feels too loud.
- 22: The Master Builder. Life Path 22 is a master number. It carries the practical strength of 4 with a much bigger vision. You can imagine large projects and also see the steps to build them. The lesson is to begin even when the dream feels too big, and to not let pressure make you rigid. With patience and good people around you, your plans can serve many.
- 33: The Master Teacher. Life Path 33 is the rarest master number. It carries the caring of 6 at a larger scale: you may feel drawn to guide, teach or support many people. Others often trust you with their worries. The lesson is to set kind limits and to care for yourself first, so your giving stays joyful instead of draining. Your warmth can change the people around you.
Questions
What is my Life Path number?
The number you get by reducing your birth date: month, day and year each to one digit or a master number, then their sum. Enter your birth date above to see yours and each step.
What are master numbers?
11, 22 and 33. Numerology keeps them instead of reducing them to 2, 4 and 6, and reads them as a stronger version of those numbers.
Why does another site give me a different number?
Some sites add every digit at once, which can skip a master number. This calculator reduces month, day and year first, the most common method.
Is numerology the same as astrology?
No. Numerology reads meaning in numbers from your birth date and name; astrology reads the sky at your birth. Both are tools for reflection.
Which Life Path number is the rarest?
Master numbers 22 and 33 are the rarest, because they need a specific mix of month, day and year.
Is this calculator free?
Yes. It is a free tool with no sign-up, and it runs on your phone or computer. Your birth date, time and place are not sent anywhere.
