Chart vs reading
Your Human Design chart is a calculation: the planets at your birth and about 88 days before, turned into gates, channels and centers. Any good calculator gets it right, and most give it away.
A reading is someone, or something, explaining what that chart means for you. That is what you pay for. So the first question is not which reading, but what you want explained.
When a reading is worth it
- You have a real question. How you decide, why a job drains you, why two people clash. A reading that answers one question is worth more than a long generic text.
- You read your free chart first. You know your type and authority, and you want to know what they mean in your life.
- You want it in plain words. Human Design has a lot of terms. A good reading explains them or skips them.
- The price fits the depth. One question, one short answer; a long session, a long list of questions.
When it is not worth it
- You want predictions. Human Design describes how you are built. It does not tell the future, and a reading that promises to is a red flag.
- A free page already answers it. If you only wanted to know what a Generator or a 2/4 profile is, read the free guides first.
- You are asked to buy a long plan first. Try one reading before any yearly plan or package.
- You are not sure of your birth time and no one asks. A reader should check which results could change.
Questions to ask before you pay
- What exactly will I get: a call, a written text, a text message thread?
- How long, and can I ask follow-up questions?
- Do you need my exact birth time, and what if I don't have it?
- Is it one payment, or does it renew?
- Will you explain the terms in plain words?

How much does a Human Design reading cost?
The chart is free on most sites. Paid help runs from about $6 for one question in an app, $8 to $17 a month for AI chat or app plans, and $49 to $129 for a written analysis, to about $100 to $380 for a live session with a reader (examples checked Nov 2, 2026).
Is a Human Design reading worth it?
It is worth it when you have a real question, like how you make decisions or why work drains you, and you have read your free chart first. It is not worth it if you expect predictions, or if a free type page already answers what you wanted to know.
Can I get a free Human Design reading?
You can get the free chart and free guides to each part of it here. Many apps and sites also give a short free reading of your type. A full reading of your own chart is usually paid.
What should a Human Design reading include?
At least your type and strategy, your authority, your profile, your defined and open centers, and what they mean in your daily life, in plain words. A good reading answers the question you came with.
Do I need my exact birth time for a reading?
It helps a lot. Without it, some results can change during the day. Our calculator checks every half hour of your birth day and tells you which ones; tell your reader which results are uncertain.
Is Human Design scientifically proven?
No. Human Design is not a science, and no study proves it. Many people use it for reflection: as a lens on how they decide and spend their energy. Treat any reading that way.
What is the difference between a chart and a reading?
The chart is the calculation: which gates, channels and centers are defined. A reading explains what that means for you. The chart is free; you pay for the explaining.
