Human Design authority, explained
In Human Design, your inner authority is the way your body makes its clearest decisions. It comes from your defined centers and follows a fixed order: if your Solar Plexus is defined, you have emotional authority, whatever else is defined.

Emotional comes first, then sacral, then splenic, then ego, then self-projected, then mental. Reflectors, with no defined centers, have lunar authority. Your authority is the first one in this order that your chart has.
The seven authorities
- Emotional (Solar Plexus)The most common authority, often quoted at about half of people, and possible for every type except Reflector. Feelings move in waves, so clarity comes over time. Sleep on big decisions and wait until you feel calm about the answer, not high or low.
- SacralGenerators and Manifesting Generators without a defined Solar Plexus. A gut response in the moment, often a sound like "uh-huh" or "uhn-uh". Simple yes or no questions help it speak.
- SplenicA defined Spleen with no defined Solar Plexus or Sacral, so Projectors and Manifestors. A quiet instinct in the moment. It speaks once and softly, so the first hit is the one to trust.
- Ego (Heart)A defined Heart center connected to the Throat (Manifestors) or to the G center (Projectors). Decide from what you truly want and can commit to: do I want this, and will I keep this promise?
- Self-projectedProjectors whose G center connects to the Throat, with no motor authority. Talk it through and listen to what you say. The truth is in your own voice.
- Mental, also called environmentalProjectors whose definition sits only in the Head, Ajna and Throat. Talk with trusted people as sounding boards and notice how places feel. The mind does not decide; it hears itself.
- LunarReflectors. Wait about 28 days, one full cycle of the Moon, before big decisions, and talk it through along the way.
Strategy and authority work together
Strategy tells you how to meet life: respond, wait for the invitation, inform or wait a month. Authority tells you how to say yes or no once something is in front of you.

How to practice
Start with small choices: what to eat, which call to return, whether to go out tonight. Notice how your authority speaks, and how it feels when you follow it or override it. A short note each day makes the pattern easier to see.

Questions
What is the most common authority in Human Design?
Emotional authority, often quoted at about half of people. It asks you to wait for clarity instead of deciding at a high or low point.
What is the difference between strategy and authority?
Strategy is how your type meets life. Authority is how you decide once a choice is in front of you.
Can Generators have splenic authority?
No. A defined Sacral comes before the Spleen in the order, so Generators and Manifesting Generators have emotional or sacral authority.
What is no inner authority?
It usually means mental (environmental) authority for Projectors, or lunar authority for Reflectors. Both find clarity by talking things through and paying attention to their surroundings.
